Jenjira J. Yahirun is an Associate Professor of Sociology and Director of Undergraduate Studies at Bowling Green State University. She is a family demographer and population health scientist, whose research focuses on family relationships across the life course. She is especially interested in how the resources of family members, mainly adult children, generate spillover effects on to the health of older adults. Dr. Yahirun also studies how social support networks differ across social groups, asking how nativity, race, and ethnicity shape people’s access to and ties to kin. Her research has been supported by the National Institute on Aging. Dr. Yahirun’s scholarship aligns with the CAF’s research themes on aging family health and health disparities in aging families.
