About RBC 2024

What is CAACURH?

The Central Atlantic Affiliate of College and University Residence Halls (CAACURH) represents one of eight regions belonging to the National Association of College and University Residence Halls. The Central Atlantic Affiliate region includes institutions from Delaware, the District of Columbia, Maryland, New Jersey, Ohio, Pennsylvania and West Virginia. The regional and national organizations bring together students passionate about leadership, advocacy and collaboration as they work to improve the quality of life for residential students at their institutions.

What is the Regional Business Conference?

The Regional Business Conference (RBC) is one of two annual leadership conferences hosted by CAACURH. During RBC, affiliated institutions come together to vote on annual business, including regional elections, annual awards and more. Business is carried out in three boardrooms in which elected campus leaders from each affiliated school (i.e., the National Communications Coordinators, the RHA Representatives, and the NRHH Representatives) discuss and vote on agenda items.

Bowling Green State University is honored to host the CAACURH 2024 Regional Business Conference on our campus in Bowling Green, OH. We look forward to a spirited weekend full of networking, discourse, idea sharing and learning. Regional leaders will engage in quality boardroom experiences, social events, philanthropy and service projects.

Meet the conference planning committee members. Each of them will be available to help you before and during the conference.

KednraLutesCropped

Keynote Speaker - Kendra Lutes

  • Position: Kendra Lutes currently serves as the Associate Director of the C. Raymond Marvin Center for Student Leadership and Civic Engagement at Bowling Green State University. In her role, Kendra works to develop leaders who serve their communities and lead for the public good. Kendra is an experienced conference presenter and licensed TEDx organizer. Kendra is a two-time Bobcat, graduating with a Bachelor of Science in Communication Studies (‘17) and a Master of Education in College Student Personnel (‘19) from Ohio University.

Philanthropic Initiatives and Service Projects

The RBC Planning Committee has chosen the St. Baldrick’s Foundation as its primary philanthropic initiative throughout the conference. Bowling Green State University and the National Residence Hall Honorary have a rich history with the St. Baldrick’s Foundation. We are excited to integrate the CAACURH region into this BGSU tradition.

The St. Baldrick’s Foundation is the largest non-government organization to raise money for childhood cancer research. As a result of the hard work and care of the Foundation’s donors and volunteers, St. Baldrick’s has funded more than $322 million in grants for childhood cancer research. Since 2012, the BGSU community has raised over $171,000 for the foundation, shaved 750 heads in solidarity with childhood cancer patients, and donated over 475 ponytails to those battling cancer.

About St. Baldrick’s Foundation

How to Help Before the Conference

One major way that your delegation can get involved is to create a fundraising team and collect donations online via the St. Baldrick’s website. Since the COVID pandemic, the foundation has seen a decrease in donations. The most important way we can help is by asking our network for monetary support.
To make a team or fundraise as an individual, please visit our St. Baldrick’s fundraising portal.

How to Help During the Conference

One of the primary goals of the RBC Planning Committee has been to seamlessly integrate philanthropy and service into the 2024 conference. In order to meet this goal, the committee is working to integrate service projects, education and awareness building into our gatherings and spirit competition. Delegates will have the opportunity to:

  • Create cards for Cardz for Kidz, which donates homemade cards to children in hospitals to uplift their spirits
  • Make gifts for children in hospitals battling their illnesses
  • Hear directly from some of our campus volunteers and from families who have been impacted by childhood cancer and received assistance from the St. Baldrick’s Foundation.

Conference Volunteers

The Regional Business Conference would not be possible without the help of our volunteers! Our volunteers help direct delegates to boardrooms, socials and gatherings; check in delegations; set up socials and boardrooms; and more. Volunteering at RBC is a great way to learn more about how a conference operates on the back end, meet new people, and give back to the region!

BGSU Students, Staff and Faculty: Use the BGSUserves platform to volunteer.
