The Democracy and Public Policy Network (DePo) hosts and sponsors a variety of events that foster civic engagement, leadership, and nonpartisan dialogue. These programs connect students, faculty, policymakers, and community members in meaningful conversations about democracy, governance, and public policy. From Constitution Week celebrations to high-profile leadership luncheons and thought-provoking lectures, DePo events provide platforms for learning, dialogue, and the exchange of ideas that strengthen our democratic community.

Leadership Luncheon

The Leadership Luncheon brings together prominent political leaders and community voices to discuss leadership, civility, and bipartisan collaboration. The inaugural luncheon featured former Ohio Governors Richard Celeste and Bob Taft, offering students and the public the chance to learn directly from seasoned policymakers.

Constitution Week & Constitution Day

Constitution Week is a campus-wide celebration of the U.S. Constitution, featuring keynote addresses, panel discussions, and educational events. Organized with the Marvin Center and the Political Science department, the week fosters civic awareness and encourages students and community members to reflect on the foundations of American democracy.

Day of Dialogue

The Day of Dialogue is a full-day event that brings elected officials, policymakers, students, and community members together for nonpartisan conversations about democracy. Panel topics include civic engagement, student leadership, bipartisan government, and representation, creating an inclusive space for thoughtful discussion.

Colin Woodard Public Lecture

Renowned author Colin Woodard visited BGSU to deliver a lecture based on his award-winning book American Character. His talk explored themes of democracy, culture, and American identity, sparking meaningful conversation among students, faculty, and the wider community.
