ART 1020 – Alter-piece

Students responded to a controversial advertisement image, combining parts with an iconic image, and their own invented hybrid symbol.  The resulting artworks question larger social and cultural concerns, raising questions about many contemporary issues (e.g., anxiety from repeated violent images on news and social media; women’s bodies and roles as commodities; global warming and environmental devastation; stalking predators and teaching young girls to value appearance rankings; corporate power; etc.].
