Bowling Green State University honored the achievements of its more than 2,500 graduates during Spring 2026 Commencement, surprising this year’s graduates with a confetti-filled finale.
Families, friends and supporters filled the stands, cheering and applauding throughout the ceremonies held May 1 and 2.

More than 1,800 undergraduate students received their diplomas on Saturday during three Commencement ceremonies at the BGSU Stroh Center.
Honorary degree
BGSU awarded alumnus and graphic design pioneer Rick Valicenti ’73 with an honorary doctorate degree in fine arts for his contributions to both the University and the field of graphic design.
