Ay Ziggy Zoomba

The mission of the Bowling Green State University Cheerleading Team is to serve as public relations ambassadors of intercollegiate athletics and Bowling Green State University; to uphold, reflect and project the goals and ideals of the University; to inspire fans through spirit, athleticism, leadership and character, and instill tradition, honor, and pride in our University and teams.

Our program values a team culture that is built upon respect and inclusivity. We strive to build positive relationships with one another that resemble a family. Our program also puts a strong emphasis on leadership development to provide members with skills that they will be able to take with them into their futures.

The Cheer Team

The BGSU Cheer Team consists of both a Co-Ed & All-Girl Team. The Co-Ed team typically consists between 8-12 couples. The All-Girl team typically consists between 8-10 stunt groups. In addition to participating in Gamedays and on-campus Spirit Program activities, teams compete annually at the Universal Cheerleaders Association (USA) College Nationals.

Spirit on Gameday

Both the Co-Ed & All-Girl teams cheer at all home football, basketball and volleyball games. Select travel squads will attend away football games, MAC tournament games and NCAA games.  The travel squads are determined based on dedication, work ethic, position and number we are permitted to travel.

Students First

The BGSU Cheerleading Program puts a strong emphasis on being a student first. All athletes are required to log study hours as well as have their grades checked frequently throughout the semester. Athletes are required to have a GPA of 2.5 or higher to be eligible members of the team.

A nationally ranked cheerleading program

BGSU competes annually at the Universal Cheerleader's Association (UCA) College Nationals. Performing routines in Small Co-Ed, All Girl, and Gameday competitions has led to storied success for the BGSU Cheer program, including a first-place championship in 2025.
