I have 20+ years of experience in nursing and healthcare from US, Canada and Pakistan. My research focuses on caregiving during palliative and end of life care and developing integrative health and wellbeing interventions/approaches to improve the psychosocial and spiritual well-being of older adults and their families particularly in rural and disadvantaged populations. I have developed art and blog writing intervention for the palliative care providers, immigrant youth and adults to improve their mental health and wellbeing. I worked with diverse community groups including Haitian, Hispanic/Non-Hispanic, and Muslim populations. Most of my research is community engaged, working with faith providers, healthcare, and social workers. I have developed several family resilience and wellness tools for the youth, older adults and their families. I regularly offer wellbeing sessions and webinars for seniors, caregivers, students and faculty through Steps to LEAP Initiative at Purdue and at other organizational events. My work has been widely disseminated in high impact factor journals including The Journal of Rural Health and BMC Geriatrics with more than 904 citations and accolades, such as the Lorene Burkart Award for Excellence in Research Among Families. Based on her achievements, she has been awarded the Early Career Investigator Award from MNRS, the Delta Omicron Chapter Research Award from Sigma Theta Tau International (STTI) Nursing Honor Society, and Steps to Leaps in Research Award from the university.
