Dr. Donna Xu is an Associate Professor at the Purdue University School of Nursing with research expertise in aging, dementia, and long-term services and supports. Her work focuses on care transitions, quality of care, and quality of life for older adults, particularly those living with Alzheimer’s disease and related dementias in long-term care settings. She studies aging family health by examining how cognitive impairment, functional decline, and chronic illness shape care trajectories, well-being, and end-of-life care. Dr. Xu conducts longitudinal and population-based research using large administrative, claims, and survey datasets to examine healthcare utilization, outcomes, and disparities in aging populations. She also engages in the development and evaluation of measures related to quality of life and nursing home quality.
