Dingyue (Demy) Wang is an Assistant Professor in the School of Nursing at Purdue University. Her research focuses on family caregiving in the context of aging and chronic illness, with an emphasis on understanding heterogeneity in caregiving experiences and outcomes. She examines how individual, family, and contextual factors shape caregiver and care-recipient health and well-being, including how caregivers’ motivations, appraisal of caregiving, and role identities influence their health and functioning in the caregiving role. Her research also considers the dynamic nature of aging families, including how caregiving roles and experiences evolve in response to changes in care recipients’ health, caregiving demands, and family circumstances. Her current work includes developing measures of caregiving motivation, identifying distinct caregiver motivational profiles, and examining cognitive health among family caregivers. Through this work, she aims to identify caregivers and aging families who may be particularly vulnerable to adverse outcomes and to inform more tailored approaches to supporting family caregivers.
