Schmidthorst College of Business Student Extends BGSU Success in International Global Competition

Layton HaulerBGSU Schmidthorst College of Business (SCoB) student Layton Hauler who is specializing in information systems placed fifth in the Fall 2021 Capsim Foundation Challenge. In the challenge, students make decisions as an executive in a large business competing against other teams. As a finalist, Layton received a $1,000 scholarship from the SCoB.

Layton was introduced to Capsim in Teaching Professor Brian Rohrs’ Accounting 2220 Introduction to Managerial Accounting class during Spring Semester 2021.  “I participated in Capsim while I was taking accounting classes, and to be honest, I loved it,” Layton said.  “Taking control of a company and managing every facet of it really intrigued me.” Layton’s participation as a finalist extends SCoB students’ record of success.  Over the past eight years, fourteen SCoB students/teams have qualified and competed as Capsim Challenge finalists, more than any other university.
