Sociology Department welcomes cohort 2021-2022

Seven graduate students earn degrees

Congratulations to our spring graduates! The Department of Sociology graduate commencement ceremony was held via Zoom on Wednesday, April 28, 2021. Graduates, faculty, and staff celebrated the accomplishments of three PhD and four MA graduates.

Anyawie wins Shanklin Award
Congratulations to Maurice Anyawie who was presented with first place at the 2021 Shanklin Research Excellence Paper Award for his paper “Racial Assortative Mating, Immigration, and Marriage Timing in the U.S.” Wendy Manning is his advisor.  
The Charles E. Shanklin Award for Research Excellence was established by the Graduate Student Senate as a meritorious award to recognize excellence in original research by graduate students at Bowling Green State University. This year, Graduate Student Senate sponsored a Graduate Colloquium named in memory of Charles E. Shanklin on Thursday April 8, 2021, via Zoom. The Charles E. Shanklin Colloquium highlighted the significant research and efforts of graduate students at BGSU.
