Distance Education Students
Online research materials
The majority of the library's journals are available electronically, and we also have online databases and hundreds of thousands of ebooks which can be found in Summon and our catalog.
Log in to any of these resources using your BGSU username and password. If you are having trouble accessing online resources, see our troubleshooting guide or contact the Research & Information Desk.
OhioLINK Pick-Up-Anywhere
Distance education students who live in Ohio may want to use Pick-Up-Anywhere. With Pick-Up-Anywhere, you can request items from any OhioLINK library, including BGSU, and pick them up at the OhioLINK institution closest to you. You can also visit any OhioLINK member library and borrow items from that library.
To request delivery of OhioLINK materials to a site other than BGSU:
- Locate an item, as usual, in the OhioLINK central catalog.
- Choose Bowling Green as your institution and enter your username and password (or you may be prompted for your name and ID number).
- Choose the OhioLINK institution where you would like to pick up your materials from the pull down menu.
- Choose a pick up site at that institution in the second drop down menu.
- Track the progress of your request in My Library Account.
You may want to contact the Circulation Desk at 419-372-2051 or email circdesk@libanswers.bgsu.edu to make sure your library account is current prior to visiting another OhioLINK institution.
Interlibrary Loan
Use BGSU's Interlibrary Loan (ILL) system to request copies of journal articles that are not available to you full text online, or chapters of books. This includes books and journals BGSU has in print. When making your request, please type "distance education student" in the notes field.
Research assistance
If you need assistance with your research or have a reference question and would like to speak with a reference librarian, please contact the Research & Information Desk via email, phone or chat.
If you would like personalized, in-depth research assistance, please make an Individual Research Appointment and indicate you would like to meet virtually. The librarian will contact you to let you know how to log in to the virtual meeting at the appointed time. Graduate students should contact the instruction librarian in their areas to set up virtual meetings or obtain subject assistance by phone or email.
Research guides developed by BGSU librarians for specific courses and subjects are always available online in LibGuides.
