The Learning Commons Earns Certification by Internationally Recognized Association

The Learning Commons has been awarded certification as a Level I Certified, Level II Advanced, and Level III Master certified tutor training program by the internationally recognized College Reading and Learning Association (CRLA).

For more than 30 years, CRLA has been a leader in learning assistance, reading, and academic support programs with almost 1,300 members and over 2,000 certified training programs worldwide.

The Learning Commons has worked hard to develop a tutor training program that meets CRLA’s rigorous standards and has successfully completed the International Tutor Training Program Certification (ITTPC) peer review process. Achieving certification means that the Learning Commons has met CRLA’s high standards for tutor selection, training, direct service, and evaluation as an integral part of their overall tutoring program.

Travis Brown, Learning Commons Director, is proud of the work his staff has done to earn this certification, stating that “In the learning center field, CRLA certification is a standard of credibility that reflects professional staff members’ invest time training our student employees to tutor and provide academic supports to their peers. It is quite the accomplishment to have the credential.”

Please join us in congratulating the Learning Commons on a job well-done.
