Gift Policy
Overview
University Libraries is not currently accepting donations of physical materials for the general collection.
Historically, most books donated for the general collection are not retained due to factors such as age, condition, duplication, and relevance to current curricula. The staff time required to evaluate donated materials also limits our ability to continue accepting these gifts.
If you believe you have exceptional or unique materials that may be appropriate for the general collection, please contact the collections and content analysis librarian.
You may be asked to provide a list of items, including:
- Title
- Author
- Edition
- Year of publication
Please do not bring materials to Jerome Library unless prior arrangements have been made for assessment.
Special Collections Donations
Rare books and other special collections materials are handled differently. University Libraries’ Special Collections units rely heavily on generous public donations to build and preserve unique research materials.
If your materials are unpublished, rare, or one-of-a-kind, please review the pages below to determine the most appropriate home. Each page outlines collecting priorities and provides contact information.
