Study Abroad

All BGSU undergraduate theatre and film majors may apply for participation in the BGSU/University of Wales student exchange program. If accepted into this program, students spend a semester studying theatre and/or film in the Department of Theatre, Film and Television Studies at the University of Wales located in scenic Aberystwyth. The site of the largest undergraduate theatre program in Great Britain, the University of Wales is also the home of the prestigious Performance Research Centre.

The department also offers a week-long trip to London every other year. THFM 3950: The London Theatre Experience is an academic workshop sponsored by the Department of Theatre and Film and International Programs and Partnerships. In this course, students travel to London, England over Spring Break, and while there, experience live theatre in one of the world’s artistic and cultural centers. The course serves as an opportunity to observe the professional London theatre scene and explore affiliated arts and history as they relate to the study and practice of theatre. The ten-day trip includes attendance at theatrical performances, as well as tours of historical sites, museums, and local attractions. In both classroom activities that precede and follow the trip, and the trip itself, students are given a new perspective on performance and production of both classic and contemporary theatre in an environment rich in theatrical history and opportunity.

Theatre and Film student, Richard Saunders, studies abroad in Spring 2013.
