Project Request FAQ
The ITS Project Request Form initiates the formal intake process within the Project Management Office (PMO). It provides the foundational information the PMO needs to evaluate and understand the requested work. This information allows the PMO to assess the request properly, determine whether it qualifies as a project or operational work, and route it through the appropriate governance or approval process.
ITS uses a Project Management Framework (PMF) with defined stages—Intake, Initiation, Planning, Execution, Deployment, and Close. This structured approach ensures projects are evaluated consistently, planned thoughtfully, executed effectively, and completed with clear accountability and communication.
You should submit a Project Request Form when you need ITS support for work associated with new technologies, structures, or processes. If you’re unsure whether your request qualifies as a project, the PMO recommends submitting the form anyway. Our intake process will determine whether the work is a project or an operational task and route it appropriately.
If your request involves new software or technology, you must first submit a Technology Review Form. This should be completed before the Project Evaluation Request form to ensure the proposed solution is approved for use at BGSU.
Once the technology has been reviewed and approved, you may submit the Project Evaluation Request form. If your request advances to the governance process, you will be asked to present and advocate for the project at the Project Advisory Committee (PAC) meeting, which is the first stage of the ITS project governance cycle. For more information, visit our Project Governance Process webpage).
The categorization helps ITS allocate resources effectively, align projects with strategic goals, track progress, identify process improvements, and set clear expectations for stakeholders. However, it does not affect the value or importance of your request, nor does it determine its priority or complexity.
