Welcome to Bowling Green State University! We're so excited for you to begin your journey as a new Falcon. To help you get settled and start creating public good from day one, your first step is to complete a few essential tasks.

I-9 Compliance: Your Verification Checklist
As an E-Verify employer, BGSU requires that all new employees complete the federal I-9 Employment Eligibility Verification process. Failure to complete this process by the deadline can result in termination.
Action Items:
- Complete Section 1 Online:
- Required by your first day of employment. Securely complete this section through our compliance partner, Equifax. (Use Employer Code 21002.)
- Prepare Your Documents:
- Required by the end of your third day of employment. You must bring acceptable, original forms of identification (no copies) to your new hire orientation for in-person verification.
Acceptable Documents: Review the official USCIS Acceptable Document List before orientation.

* For full-time employees only. Important: State of Ohio legislation requires the Retirement Plan Election Form to be physically signed with a hand-written signature. Electronic signatures cannot be accepted.

If you plan to enroll your spouse or dependents, please remember to bring documentation (such as a marriage certificate or birth certificates) to confirm their eligibility. Be sure to review the dependent eligibility information prior to enrollment.
Important Dates
To ensure a seamless transition, please keep these key deadlines in mind:
- Employee Benefit Plan Enrollments: You have 30 calendar days from your date of hire to enroll online via the MyBGSU portal.
- Retirement Plan Elections: Retirement elections must be completed within 120 calendar days of your date of hire by submitting the Retirement Plan Election Form to Human Resources.
