BGSU Nutrition Clinic

Misson

The BGSU Nutrition Clinic provides accessible nutrition care to the community while training future dietitians, consistent with the standards of The Accreditation Council for Education in Nutrition and Dietetics (ACEND) and the State Medical Board of Ohio.

Services

Supervised by licensed dietitians, our dietetic interns gain hands-on experience delivering evidence-based nutrition care.

We focus on common nutrition concerns, including:
  • High blood pressure
  • High cholseterol or dyslipidemia
  • Overweight or obesity
  • Pre-diabetes or metabolic syndrome
  • Digestive issues, such as IBS, reflux, food allergies, food intolerances

Nutrition Education: Guidance on healthy eating and lifestyle habits.

Medical Nutrition Therapy (MNT): Evidence-based counseling to manage medical conditions. Note: This is a student educational experience; clients with complex medical needs or those needing ongoing care will be referred to community providers.

Diabetes Prevention Program (DPP): A year-long, virtual program for adults at high risk for type 2 diabetes, focusing on lifestyle changes. Individuals with type 1 or type 2 diabetes are not eligible. Learn more about DPP

Referrals: Accepting new clients during the academic year (September–May).

Who We Serve

As a public university, we focus on serving residents of Wood County and nearby communities with limited access to nutrition care, including low-income, underinsured, rural, or transportation-challenged individuals. We accept referrals from partner clinics and providers who serve eligible patients.

We also work with the BGSU Athletics department, BGSU Wellness/Thrive Program, and BGSU ROTC.
