Apply for the Incoming Freshman Talent Award

Students applying for the Incoming Freshman Talent Award must be High School Seniors planning to attend the School of Art at BGSU as full-time students (at least 12 credit hours per semester) during the 2024-25 academic year. Applicants must submit a portfolio of 10 artworks through SlideRoom for consideration for this scholarship.

The School of Art offers 8 to 10 scholarships each year, ranging from $1000 to $2000, disbursed as tuition scholarship for the first year of study in the School of Art. We are also offering an additional $2,000 scholarship. The Robert Mazur Memorial Scholarship will be awarded to the best portfolio submitted in the Incoming Freshman Talent Award competition.

Please note: If you are already receiving a full tuition scholarship, you are not eligible to receive this scholarship.

To be considered for the Incoming Freshman Talent Award, you must submit 10 works of original art created within the last 18 months. Artworks can be in any medium (2D, 3D, video, installation, animation, etc.). Your portfolio can include a variety of media, or can include only one medium.

If any work submitted is a collaborative product, please list all artists involved in its creation, as well as your role in the collaboration.

Please do not include other people's work, reproductions of famous or copyrighted works, reproductions of cartoon/animated characters, or reproductions of celebrities.

Instructions to Apply:

- Create a SlideRoom account

- Login to BGSU's SlideRoom portal

- Select the correct program: "Incoming Freshman Talent Award 2024"

- Fill out the application

- Submit portfolio (Note: You can edit your portfolio until you click "submit." Once you submit your portfolio, your application is closed).

Robert Mazur Memorial Scholarship Fund - $2,000

An additional scholarship given to the senior with the top portfolio from the Incoming Freshman Talent Award Scholarship.

The Governor's Award will be given to the highest ranking recipient of the Incoming Freshman Talent Award exhibiting in the Ohio Governor's Youth Art Exhibition. The recipient of this scholarship will be determined soon after the jury process for the Ohio Governor's Youth Art Exhibition is completed.

The recipient will receive $1000 in addition to the amount of the Incoming Freshman Talent Award.
