Amy Martin Steps Into Vice Chair Role on Young Alumni Board

Amy Martin, a 2018 graduate of Bowling Green State University, has been named vice chair of the Young Alumni Board. A longtime advocate for student engagement and alumni involvement, Martin brings both experience and enthusiasm to her new leadership role.

Martin, currently a senior compensation analyst at The Andersons Inc., joined the Young Alumni Board in 2022. Her connection to BGSU began as a student ambassador for the College of Business, where she first saw the impact alumni could have on current students.

“Being a student ambassador gave me the chance to interact with board members and see how they were giving back to the university,” Martin said. “That experience made a lasting impression. I knew I wanted to stay involved and help create those same opportunities for others.”

Now, as vice chair, Martin is eager to deepen the board’s engagement with students and fellow alumni.

“I’ve really enjoyed my time on the board — hearing university updates, returning to campus, and connecting with students,” she said. “Stepping into this leadership role is an honor, and I’m excited to help guide the board’s efforts to support BGSU’s mission and community.”

Martin’s professional journey has mirrored her commitment to growth and mentorship. Since starting as an HR intern at the Andersons in 2017, she has taken on a variety of roles within the company’s human resources department. She also holds a master’s degree in human resources and employment relations from Penn State University and is SHRM-certified.

When asked what advice she would give to current students preparing to enter the workforce, Martin emphasized curiosity and courage.

“Approach each experience with an open mind and take it as an opportunity to learn something new,” she said. “Never be afraid to say ‘yes’ to something unfamiliar — it’ll only help you in the long run.”
