  • 2012: Craig Zirbel has received the University Community Fellowship Award.
  • Jim Albert is the new Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of Quantitative Analysis in Sports.
  • Dr. Neal Carothers retired from BGSU in August 2011, after 24 years of faithful service to the department and university.
  • Ray Heitger retired from the Department of Mathematics and Statistics in 2012, after over 30 years of teaching mathematics.
  • Mary Koshar won the 2011 Distinguished Instructor/Lecturer Award.
  • Barbara Moses retired in 2011 from the Department of Mathematics and Statistics after 33 years as a leader in the promotion of math education.
  • Fred Rickey (Distinguished Teaching Professor Emeritus) has retired in July, 2011 from the Department of Mathematical Sciences of the United States Military Academy at West Point, where he has been a faculty member since 1998 after retiring from BGSU.
  • Jim Albert was awarded funding for his PREP grant proposal by the Mathematical Association of America and the National Science Foundation. PREP stands for “Professional Enhancement Program.” Jim’s proposal is titled “Teaching Statistics Using Active Learning and Technology.” Jim will be the Program Director of a week-long professional development program in Gambier, Ohio, in the Summer of 2011.
  • Professor Arjun K. Gupta received a Lifetime Achievement Award from Bowling Green State University
  • Professor David Meel received the 2011 MAA Ohio Section Teaching Award.
  • Professor Craig Zirbel is a coinvestigator on a $1.3 million grant to boost BGSU RNA research
  • September, 2009: Barbara Moses has been selected to receive the Kenneth Cummins Award by the OCTM for exemplary mathematics teaching.
  • Retired Professor David B. Meronk died on July 30, 2009
  • June 15-18, 2009: 12th Annual Conference on Ordered Algebraic Structures was held in June, 2009, celebrating the work and achievement of retired Distinguished Research Professor W. Charles Holland.
  • May 15-16, 2009: MIGHTY XLVIII, The Midwest Graph Theory Conference, was held at BGSU
  • April 20, 2009: Cyndi Patterson was presented the Outstanding Service Award at the annual Classified Staff Awards Ceremony.
  • April 3-4, 2009: The Spring Meeting of the Ohio Section of the MAA was held at BGSU.
