Presidential Graduate Scholar Fellowship
Goal:
The purpose of the Presidential Graduate Scholar Fellowship award is to provide support to graduate students who demonstrate scholarly promise at BGSU and support BGSU’s commitment to provide opportunities for all within the campus community. Each applicant’s qualifications will be considered on an individual basis.
Eligibility:
- To apply for this award, applicants must have completed an upcoming Summer or Fall Graduate College application on file. Applicants must also have participated in a TRIO program and/or have a demonstrated commitment to enhancing inclusion, belonging and/or access at BGSU.
- To receive this award, applicants must be a newly admitted, full-time domestic student enrolling in a master’s, specialist, or doctoral program at BGSU Main Campus (e.g., the majority of class time is face to face).
Description:
- The Presidential Graduate Scholar Fellowship will be offered on a competitive basis to upcoming Summer or Fall applicants with strong academic qualifications as defined by the admission criteria of the Graduate College and the respective graduate program.
- This one-time award will consist of a refundable scholarship in the amount of $5,000 for Master’s or Specialist students or $7,500 for Doctoral students, in addition to a full-time tuition scholarship for fall and spring semester.
Application Process:
- Complete the online application, which includes a 500 word essay addressing the following: Describe how you will enhance inclusion, belonging and/or access on the BGSU campus and in your future career.
The Graduate College collects academic transcripts, test scores, and other admissions materials as needed to assess applications.
Dates:
Applications will be considered on a rolling basis, however no applications will be accepted after 11:59 PM on March 1st, annually.
Notifications for award winners will be made no later than April 1st, annually.
Evaluation Process:
Applications will be reviewed based on: (a) academic qualifications; (b) writing content; and (c) writing quality. Preference will be given to applicants who are entering doctoral programs.
