Selection of Students for Membership

Each year, the Bowling Green State University chapter of Phi Beta Kappa (Xi of Ohio) selects undergraduate students for membership in the nation's oldest academic honorary society. The criteria for membership reflect a tradition of superior scholarship in the liberal arts and humanities dating back to the founding of the organization at the College of William and Mary in 1776. Students cannot apply for membership. They are selected on the basis of materials assembled by the Registrar's Office and the College of Arts and Sciences. Those who meet all the criteria receive invitations to join Phi Beta Kappa. Students are normally selected in their senior year.

To become eligible for Phi Beta Kappa during your career at Bowling Green, use the criteria as a guide to plan your studies. Follow this link: Criteria for admission to Phi Beta Kappa.
