Professor Chen’s research focuses on adult age differences in social judgment and decision-making. Specifically, I am interested in how people of different age groups differ in making judgments about other people (e.g., impression formation and causal attribution) and decisions about important choices in their lives (e.g., financial decisions and retirement investment). Instead of simply documenting age differences, I also attempt to address the underlying cognitive and social emotional influences that contribute to these age differences.
