Preceptors
Preceptors are an integral part of a nursing student's education!
In their final semester of nursing school, BSN students spend 135 hours with an experienced, licensed RN working side-by-side to care for patients. Students arrange preceptorship hours with their preceptor following the preceptor's work schedule. Preceptors must hold a valid, unencumbered nursing license, complete the preceptor application, have a supervisor complete the recommendation, and be approved by their facility to precept a student.
The Clinical Coordinator, Lacey Davis, works closely with preceptors to ensure they have met all requirement prior to matching students with the preceptor. The preceptors will be provided with the required student forms by the student upon their first meeting.
Preceptor application and recommendation form(s) should be returned to Lacey Davis at laceyd@bgsu.edu as soon as possible to ensure proper verification prior to starting the preceptorship.
