Harold J. McGrady Speech Language Pathology Scholarship

The Harold J. (Hal) McGrady Speech-Language Pathology Scholarship was established by Dr. Hal McGrady, a BGSU alumnus, in order to provide support to graduate students in Communication Sciences and Disorders. Dr. McGrady received his bachelors degree from BGSU, his master’s in audiology from Ohio State and his Ph.D. in speech pathology from Northwestern University. His career was equally divided between university and school settings. Because of his dedication to speech-language services in the schools, Dr. McGrady established this scholarship to support students who wish to pursue a career in the schools as a speech-language pathologist. In 2010 he was recognized as one of the 100 most prominent alumni of BGSU.

Award Eligibility and Selection Criteria:

1. The recipient shall be a second-year graduate student at BGSU who is in the school-based track in Communication Disorders and has expressed an interest in working in the school setting after graduation. (Applicants should be students currently in their first year of graduate study at BGSU.)
2. Preference will be given to students who show financial need.
   
3. Preference shall be given to students who are involved in student life activities and demonstrate campus leadership.
4. The recipient shall have a grade point average equal to or greater than 3.00.

Before accepting this award, you will need to sign a waiver indicating you are going to pursue a job in the schools following graduation.
