Combined BS in Dietetics to MFN-Master's of Food and Nutrition Program Policy

Admissions Requirements

Students interested in pursuing the Combined Bachelor of Science in Dietetics to Master of Food and Nutrition (MFN) program plan must complete the following application requirements:  

1.      By the start of the student’s Advanced status, they must have either:

- 75 credit hours earned and an overall BGSU GPA of at least 3.2[1], or

- 90 credit hours earned and an overall BGSU GPA of at least 3.0;

2.      A completed Combined Bachelor’s to Master’s Program Application;

3.      Transcripts from all universities attended;

4.      One letter of recommendation from a full-time BGSU faculty member, preferably from graduate faculty within the student’s major or targeted graduate program;

5.      Personal statement describing how the MFN degree will help the student reach his/her career goals.

Combined B.S. in Dietetics to MFN Program Plan  

Students enrolled in the Combined B.S. in Dietetics to MFN should follow the following course schedule for planning out graduate work that begins while still enrolled as an undergraduate student, followed by the courses taken when fully enrolled as a graduate student in the MFN program. 

Undergraduate Advanced Status (limited to 9 credits maximum)

Courses that may be taken while an undergraduate student with Undergraduate Advanced Status that will overlap between the Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees:

Undergraduate Advanced students may take a maximum of three (3) courses selected from the following list:

FN 5310:  Experimental Foods (3)

FN 5340:  Medical Nutrition Therapy I (3)

FN 5350:  Life Cycle Nutrition:  Pregnancy to Adolescence (3)

FN 5360:  Life Cycle Nutrition:  Middle Age to Later Years (3)

FN 5380:  Medical Nutrition Therapy II (3)
