Program Learning Outcomes
Upon completion of the M.Ed. degree, students in the Classroom Technology program are expected to be able to:

  • Create and support, in K12 classrooms, effective digital age learning environments to maximize the learning of all students
  • Coach educators in using technology effectively for assessing student learning, differentiating instruction, and providing rigorous relevant and engaging learning experiences for learners 
  • Model and promote digital citizenship
  • Compile evidence of professional knowledge, skills and dispositions in content, pedagogical and technological areas as well as adult learning and leadership and continuously depend their knowledge and expertise. 

Accreditation
The Master¹s in Classroom Technology is accredited by National Council of Accreditation in Teacher Education (NCATE), and Ohio Department of Education.

Prerequisites to Graduate Work
Prerequisites for the M.Ed. programs include a bachelor's degree from an accredited institution.

Admission Procedure
Applicants seeking admission to the graduate programs offered by the School of Teaching and Learning should follow the instructions outlined in the Graduate Admission webpage.  All application materials should be sent to the Graduate Admissions Office.

In addition, applicants should review the admissions requirements specific to the program to which they seek admission.

Degree Requirements
Master of Education in Classroom Technology with Specialization in Computer Technology
Candidates must complete a minimum of 34 semester hours of graduate credit. The following courses are required: EDFI 6450, EDFI 6420, EDTL 6310, EDTL 6150, EDTL 6320, EDTL 6330, EDTL 6350, EDTL 6390, EDTL 6180, EDFI 6340, & EDTL 6380.

Students may apply for the Computer Technology Endorsement from the Ohio Department of Education after completing the 16 hours of coursework identified for this credential. In addition, the 34-hour master’s degree offers additional coursework in dynamic media, online teaching and learning, and media/information literacy.

Master of Education in Classroom Technology with Specialization in Computer Science Educators
Candidates must complete a minimum of 33 semester hours of graduate credit. The following courses are required: EDFI 6450, EDFI 6420, EDTL 6310, CS 5010, CS 5020, CS 5030, EDTL 6391, EDTL 6180, EDTL 6340, EDTL 6380.

Master of Education in Classroom Technology with Specialization in both Computer Technology AND Computer Science Educators
Candidates must complete a minimum of 30 semester hours of graduate credit. The following courses are required: EDFI 6450, EDFI 6420, EDTL 6310, CS 5010, CS 5020, CS 5030, EDTL 6150, EDTL 6320, EDTL 6330, EDTL 6350, EDTL 6390, EDTL 6391, EDTL 6380.

BGSU Classroom Technology master's degree candidates who already possess an Ohio Teaching license may earn the Ohio Department of Education Computer Technology Endorsement for K12 Technology Education Coaching and Mentoring. This additional licensure area may also be used as a route to licensure and qualifications for meeting Ohio Computer Science licensure requirements. Upon completion of required coursework, successful completion of Ohio Assessment for Educator SubTests, and 50 hours of practicum in the field, candidates may complete application for new licensure.
