Celebrating achievement: How student organizations elevate business education

This fall, two Schmidthorst College of Business student organizations hosted events that showcased leadership, professional development, and academic excellence. From celebrating a 70-year legacy and building ambassador leadership skills, these initiatives reflect the strength and engagement of our student community. Each event provided opportunities for students to connect with alumni, gain industry insights, and prepare for future success. Here are three key highlights from the semester.

Beta Alpha Psi Celebrates 70 Years 

This fall, the Alpha Upsilon chapter of Beta Alpha Psi commemorated its 70th anniversary, a milestone that reflects decades of leadership, service and professional development in accounting at Bowling Green State University. The celebration brought together students, faculty and alumni for an evening of networking and recognition. Highlights included a formal dinner, an alumni panel discussion, the initiation of nine new members and recognition of six graduating seniors. A special tribute honored Dr. Kenneth Snead for his 38 years of service to the department. Alumni shared insights that connected the chapter’s history with future opportunities, inspiring students to continue building on this legacy. The anniversary not only celebrated past achievements but reaffirmed Beta Alpha Psi’s commitment to preparing future accounting professionals for success.

Student Ambassador Success Conference 

This fall, the Schmidthorst College of Business Student Ambassadors hosted the second annual Business Student Ambassador Success Conference, a three-day event that welcomed 45 attendees from 10 institutions across the United States for an inspiring weekend of networking, collaboration and professional growth. Participants engaged in interactive breakout sessions on topics such as artificial intelligence, project teamwork, diversity, equity and inclusion, authentic leadership and overcoming adversity, while two visiting universities shared their own approaches to building strong ambassador programs. The conference celebrated the collective strength of student ambassador initiatives nationwide and highlighted the dedication and excellence of the Schmidthorst College of Business Student Ambassadors in fostering leadership and student engagement.
