Dean's Message: September 2025
Dear Insiders,
This academic year marks a milestone for the Schmidthorst College of Business as we celebrate 90 years of business education at Bowling Green State University.
We ended the summer with a memorable commencement, recognizing nine new doctoral graduates, 131 master’s graduates and 57 undergraduates. Among them were President’s Award recipients Issac Cisco and Katelyn Kauscher, who each earned a perfect 4.0 GPA. Their achievements reflect the lasting impact BGSU students are making in communities near and far.
This fall, we welcome more than 550 new freshmen and 50 pre-business pathway students—our largest undergraduate enrollment in more than a decade. Our Doctorate in Organizational Development and Change is enrolling its largest cohort to date, and our Online MBA continues to grow with its biggest incoming class since the pandemic. The momentum is real, and it’s energizing our campus.
We’re also taking a major step forward in academic organization. The creation of four new departments—Accounting and Finance; Business Analytics, Economics and Information Systems; Management; and Marketing—positions us to deliver innovative programs, including the new Master of Science in Analytics launching in January. Guided by faculty expertise and alumni advisory boards, we remain committed to a bold, relevant and impactful student experience.
This fall, we’re excited to welcome 14 new faculty members, along with two returning favorites in new roles. Their diverse backgrounds—from Emmy-winning storytelling to military leadership—will inspire students to think differently, take risks and lead with purpose.
As part of our 90th anniversary celebration, we’re hosting events that connect past, present and future. From virtual conversations on AI in the workplace to alumni-student career dialogues and spirited Falcon tailgates, there are many ways to engage. Mark your calendars for Homecoming, Sept. 11–14, and don’t miss special events like the Battle of I-75 pre-game tailgate on Oct. 11 and Family Weekend on Oct. 18, where commemorative replica jerseys will debut. Similar networking and celebration opportunities are planned throughout the hockey, basketball and spring seasons.
This growth and energy are possible because of the support and engagement of alumni and friends like you. Whether you attend an event, engage on social media or serve on an advisory board, your involvement inspires students and helps us provide life-changing opportunities for future business leaders.
We look forward to celebrating with you throughout this milestone year. Thank you for being part of our community—past, present and future.
See you at Homecoming,
