Alumna Says Schmidthorst Alumni & Friends Network Already Expanding Her Connections

The Schmidthorst College recently launched the Alumni & Friends Network, a private network intended to help Schmidthorst alumni and friends of the College connect with former classmates, find new ways to engage with the Schmidthorst College, and network with other alumni.

Lauren Diehl, '16, says the Alumni & Friends has helped her reconnect with former Supply Chain Management classmates and network with other professionals in her field.

“The Alumni & Friends Network has been a great resource so far. When I attended BGSU, I was a College of Business Student Ambassador. I made a lot of friends in the program but lost touch with them after graduation. Since joining the Network, I have been able to reconnect with many other Student Ambassadors from my cohort and see what they are doing now. I have also been able to reconnect with fellow Supply Chain classmates and share career advice.”

In addition to reconnecting with old classmates, Diehl has also been able to form new connections.

“I am a currently a member of the Schmidthorst Young Alumni Board, a group that helps advise Dean Braun on strategic planning. While I have made connections with other members of the board, I have not been able to meet members of the other Schmidthorst College of Business advisory and department boards. Now, thanks to the Network, I can search for members of specific boards and connect with them. Through this, I have been able to expand my network.”

Diehl says she has also learned about opportunities to stay engaged with the Schmidthorst College of Business.

“I used the “Get Engaged” form in the Network to find out about the Speaker’s Bureau, which gives professionals to chance to speak to students directly. This is a great opportunity, and I may apply to participate in the future.”
