earl mckinneyDr. Earl McKinney, a Management Information Systems Professor in the College of Business at Bowling Green State University, has been selected as a Fulbright Scholar to visit Austria in Spring 2021. The prestigious Fulbright Program is devoted to increasing mutual understanding between people of the United States and people of other countries. It’s the world's largest and most diverse international educational exchange program. The program works with universities, binational Fulbright commissions, government agencies, nongovernmental organizations and the private sector to seek out individuals of achievement and potential who represent the diversity of their respective societies.

During the past 75 years, BGSU has had over 45 Fulbright recipients. Earl will join the ranks of many distinguished program participants. Fulbright alumni have become heads of state, judges, ambassadors, cabinet ministers, CEOs, and university presidents, as well as leading journalists, artists, scientists, and teachers. They include 60 Nobel Laureates, 86 Pulitzer Prize winners, 74 MacArthur Fellows, and thousands of leaders across the private, public and non-profit sectors. Since its inception in 1946, more than 390,000 “Fulbrighters” have participated in the Program.

Dr. McKinney will be teaching two graduate level courses at Salzburg University of Applied Sciences as a Visiting Professor next spring. During that time, he will also be working on a research project titled “Analytics in Ambiguity: Finding an Answer When the Answer is Expected”.

In response to the recent explosion of interest with analytics and big data tools, his research seeks to understand how people teach analytics in ambiguity. Dr. McKinney will study how informing and ambiguity is addressed in analytics pedagogy, and how that is impacted by student attitudes toward ambiguity.

“We are very proud that Dr. McKinney has been chosen for the prestigious Fulbright Program”, remarked Dean Ray Braun. “He is an outstanding teacher and scholar and we look forward to seeing the outcomes from his experience.”
