Gremler Dwayne useDr. Dwayne D. Gremler, Professor of Marketing in the College of Business at Bowling Green State University, has received the inaugural Outstanding Associate Editor (AE) Award from the Journal of Service Research (JSR). According to the JSR’s editor-in-chief, Michael K. Brady: “being an AE is a very difficult – and likely the most difficult – job of any member of an article review team. AEs are required to review submitted papers, review the three reviewers’ reviews, integrate the two sides, and then craft a coherent narrative that not only provides the authors with a clear direction moving forward, but also offers guidance to the editor-in-chief on what should be done moving forward. AEs do these tasks dozens of times year, anonymously, and without compensation.”

Widely considered the world’s leading scientific journal in the multidisciplinary area of services, JSR is a must read to keep up with the latest research in services marketing. Practical and readable, JSR offers the necessary knowledge and tools to cope with an increasingly service-based economy. JSR features articles by the world’s leading service experts, from both academia and the business world. JSR’s 2-year and 5-year Impact Factors are 6.382 (up from 4.071 last year and 11th out of the business category) and 9.211 (up from 7.07 and 12th out of the business category). These facts place JSR right after such journals as Academy of Management Review and Journal of International Business Studies (JIBS).

“[Dr. Gremler’s] AE work stands out because [he has] handled more papers, in less time, and with very high-quality feedback, than the group as a whole,” said Michael K. Brady, Editor-in-Chief, the Journal of Service Research. “This is an especially impressive accomplishment because JSR has excellent AEs who represent the brightest minds in service research from around the globe.”

“Dr. Gremler is one of the most prolific and globally known scholars in the multidisciplinary area of services. He has received many recognitions and awards throughout his highly productive career including several Best Research Paper awards from JSR (2011) and other service journals, but most importantly the SERVSIG Christopher Lovelock Career Contributions Award from the American Marketing Association’s Services Marketing Special Interest Group (SERVSIG, 2014),” said Mo Zolfigarian, Chair of the Marketing Department “He has been a Distinguished Teaching Professor at BGSU (2015-present) and a Visiting International Professor at University of Münster, Germany (2015-present). In 2005, he was awarded a Fulbright Scholarship for lecturing and research on Services Marketing at Maastricht University, The Netherlands. The Marketing Department at BGSU is immensely proud to be the academic home to Dr. Gremler.”

“We are very proud that Dr. Gremler was chosen for this award”, commented Ray Braun ‘80, Dean of the College of Business. “He has a long history of great research and is a highly respected member of our faculty.”
