Foreign Language and Area Studies Fellowships

The FLAS Fellowship is a prestigious award that enables the recipient to devote full time to undergraduate study. The Global Studies Center will award five fellowships for the summer. FLAS-eligible languages include: Arabic, Chinese, Hindi, Persian (Farsi), Portuguese, Swahili, and Turkish. The study program is to provide the fellowship recipient with the equivalent of one academic year of foreign language study.

Masa Israel Grants and Scholarships

Masa Israel works to make it as easy as possible for Jewish young adults to go to Israel.

We offer grants and/or scholarships to help make the experience more affordable, and collect information about other grants and scholarships available for long-term Israel programs from third party organizations. 

AFCEA STEM Majors Scholarships for Undergraduate and Graduate Students

For the 2016-2017 Academic Year, applicants will be considered for all AFCEA STEM Major scholarship opportunities for which they are qualified.  Applications will be accepted from current eligible undergraduate and graduate-level students majoring in STEM fields to include Cyber Security, Intelligence and Homeland Security-related disciplines. Online programs are eligible.

La Unidad Latina Foundation (LULF)

The La Unidad Latina Foundation was established in 1999 to serve as an independent, non-profit, charitable organization dedicated to funding educational achievement and civic empowerment in the Latino community. Scholarships are awarded ranging from $500 to $1000 to scholars pursuing academic excellence in higher education. 

Hertog Programs

The Hertog Foundation offers several highly competitive and selective educational programs for outstanding individuals who seek to influence the intellectual, civic, and political life of the United States. We offer programs in three main areas: Political Thought & Philosophy; War & Foreign Affairs; and Economics & Domestic Policy.

The Leadership Alliance Summer Research-Early Identification Program

The Leadership Alliance encourages students from groups traditionally underrepresented in the sciences, engineering, social sciences and humanities to pursue research careers in the academic, public and private sectors. The organization sponsors closely mentored research experiences in a broad range of academic disciplines at 22 research institutions.

Summer Medical and Dental Education Program (SMDEP)

The SMDEP program offers students representing a wide range of economic, cultural, racial, and ethnic diversity a variety of academic and career experiences that will support their dental and medical school career preparation.

All the housing costs and most meals are covered by the program. Scholars are provided with a $600 stipend which is typically distributed at the midway and at the end of the program. Some program sites offer travel assistance awards. The Robert Wood Johnson Foundation also provides a needs-based scholarship for travel to and from the program site.

Math Research Experience for Undergraduates

The American Mathematical Society keeps a record of summer REUs in mathematics. Most deadlines fall in February to March. 

NASA Graduate Student Researchers Project

The NASA Graduate Student Researchers Project awards fellowships for graduate study leading to master's or doctoral degrees, related to NASA research and development, in the fields of science, mathematics and engineering. This 12-month award includes a required internship at the NASA center affiliated with the NASA-sponsored research. The award may be renewed annually, for a maximum of three years. 

International Research Experiences for Undergraduates

U.S. chemical and materials science students may apply for a summer research opportunity in Germany, Italy, Singapore, and the United Kingdom through the ACS International Research Experiences for Undergraduates (IREU) program.
