A Message from the Dean

Welcome to the Graduate College at Bowling Green State University. As Vice Provost and Dean, I collaborate with others to ensure that graduate and professional students receive the high-quality education needed to accomplish their personal and professional goals.

Belonging and Well-being.

BGSU is committed to “mutual respect, understanding, and valuing individuals to facilitate a more diverse and inclusive environment so all can belong[i].” We create a vibrant and creative graduate community by appreciating and honoring the diversity of life experiences and perspectives. Through programming and collaborating with campus partners, such as the Counseling Center, LGBTQ+ Resource Center, and Office of Multicultural Affairs, the Graduate College promotes belonging and well-being and provides student-focused support. Both the Graduate Student Senate (GSS) and Multicultural Initiatives for Graduate Student Success (MIGSS) are led by strong graduate students – make sure to reach out to them with questions or find out ways to get involved.

Public Good in a Dynamic World. 

We prepare students to make a difference in their communities and the world. Our world-class faculty mentor graduate students to tackle dynamic, real-world challenges through scholarship, partnerships, and engagement. From studying toxic algal blooms in Lake Victoria, Africa, to serving as senior counsel for the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development, our students and alumni are transforming society through solving social, educational, economic, health, and environmental problems. 

Students have impactful experiences at BGSU to create public good.

Graduate school offers students many opportunities to expand their knowledge and push their limits. Through opportunities such as research, performances, creative works, teaching, and partnering with professional organizations, students apply theory to real-life situations and help create knowledge.
