  • Mathematics, M.A. – Specialization in Statistics

Other program applicants will be considered based on qualifications and preferred skills.

Qualifications/Preferred Skills: 

Graduate student in good academic standing with an interest in nutrition, public health, biomedical science, microbiology, or quantitative health research. Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and willingness to learn new research and data-analysis methods are important. Previous research experience is preferred but not required. Experience with statistical software or programming (e.g., R, Python, SPSS), large health datasets, literature review, data visualization, microbiome research, or nutritional epidemiology is beneficial but not required.

Position Description:  

The Graduate Research Assistant will support faculty-led research at the intersection of nutrition, public health, and data analysis. Current and developing projects include analyses of large national health and nutrition datasets such as NHANES, including research examining dietary patterns and food sources in relation to biomarkers and chronic disease outcomes, as well as projects involving nutrition and the gut microbiome.
The student may assist with literature reviews, data organization and management, statistical analyses, interpretation of research findings, development of tables and figures, and preparation of abstracts, presentations, and manuscripts. Prior experience with these specific research methods is not required. Training and mentorship will be provided, and responsibilities can be tailored in part to the student’s existing skills.
