Professor’s Review of Postretirement Employment Studies to be Published in Top 50 Journal

Sherry SullivanDr. Sherry Sullivan, Professor of Management, has had a paper accepted for publication by the Journal of Management, a Financial Times Top 50 Journal.  Her paper is entitled “Employment After Retirement: A Review and Framework for Future Research” Dr. Akram Al Ariss, professor at Toulouse Business School in France, is a co- author.

Her abstract states that research evidence indicates that a growing number of retirees are reentering the labor force and, although numerous reviews have been conducted on retirement, there has been no comprehensive review of studies on work after retirement. This review examines postretirement employment in light of the five key dimensions of employability: career motivation, human capital, social capital, identity, and personality. The article identifies trends and gaps in the literature and recommends major directions for future research on postretirement employment.

The management professor has received many national and international awards for excellence in the management field, including being selected for the BGSU Owens-Illinois Professorship in 2018 and chosen as an Oxford Journal Distinguished Scholar in 2016.
