Business students at BGSU have great opportunities to achieve their goals of obtaining internships and full-time jobs through the University’s EXPO Job and Internship Fair which was held at the Perry Field House on February 9.  To ensure students demonstrated their highest potential to impress employers, the Business Career Accelerator hosted its annual Business Career Day event the day before the EXPO. Business Career Day built upon the success of previous years by presenting popular sessions and adding some new topics. The sessions featured insight from representatives from the College of Business’s employer partners.

The afternoon kicked off with a Q & A panel of employers sharing tips to engage recruiters at the EXPO, facilitated by Career Counselor Shahad Aldoori.  Students then had the opportunity to attend one of three breakout sessions including “Tech Tools for your Career,” a “Student Internship Panel,” and “Communication for your Career” facilitated by Career Counselors Chris Faulkner and Shahad Aldoori, and marketing department faculty member Donna Greenwald.

A “LinkedIn photo booth” was also provided throughout the afternoon to take professional headshots for students to use with their accounts.

The day concluded with a mock-EXPO presentation facilitated by Thomas Siebenaler, Director of the Business Career Accelerator, while BGSU student Andrew Ludwig and Talent Acquisition Recruiter Brad Stevens from Marathon Petroleum Corporation served as actors in the role play.  Students gained valuable knowledge and skills on how to engage with recruiters at the EXPO and to advance their career goals.

After attending the event, students noted appreciation for all of the resources and insight gained, especially the support received from employers who volunteered to assist at the event.

Special thanks go to the following employers who participated in the panels and workshops: Marathon Petroleum Corporation, Cooper Tire, Owens Corning, Deloitte, and Northwestern Mutual.  Their support is greatly appreciated!
