The trip lasts two weeks, with vans leaving at the beginning of May. Participants are introduced to the Navajo people, their culture and way of life with all its nuances and complexities.

Middle and high school students from across the country spent a week on campus studying with BGSU faculty, guest artists and music majors, culminating in a concert for family and friends.

George Bullerjahn, Timothy Davis, Michael McKay and Jeffrey Miner, along with Dr. Kefa Otiso from geography, traveled to Kenya in April to meet with Kisii University faculty and students and the Kenya Marine and Fisheries Research Institute to share knowledge about harmful algal blooms.

  • Tiffany Smith named a Newman Civic Fellow Jun 20, 2018 12:39 PM For Tiffany Smith ’18, Bowling Green State University’s dietetics program was the perfect major. It combined her two passions: nutrition and serving the community. It also led to Smith becoming a Civic Action Leader for the Center for Community and Civic Engagement, and, ultimately, a Newman Civic Fellow.

  • Ava Harter of Ottawa Hills appointed BGSU trustee Jun 19, 2018 11:50 AM Ohio Gov. John Kasich has appointed Ava Harter of Ottawa Hills to the Bowling Green State University Board of Trustees. Her nine-year term will run through 2027. The new graduate student representative has also been announced. Adam Smidi is a doctoral student in the BGSU School of Media and Communication.

  • BGSU to host memorial concert in honor of late band director Jun 19, 2018 10:30 AM They called him “The Chief,” and at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, June 23, 101 of his former students will play at Bowling Green State University’s Kobacker Hall in his memory. Mark Kelly, who directed the BGSU bands from 1966 to 1994, died in November 2017 at the age of 91.

  • BGSU's Hank Blumenthal finds himself ‘In the Soup’ once again Jun 11, 2018 7:00 AM Dr. Hank Blumenthal, a BGSU VCT assistant professor, reunited with the cast and crew of “In the Soup,” a 1992 movie he produced, at the 2108 Tribeca Film Festival. The Sundance Grand Prize-winning indie comedy was one of only three films selected for the Retrospective portion of the festival.

  • From sea to shining sea Jun 11, 2018 7:00 AM Former U.S. Army Sgt. Sarah Lee '09 is bringing awareness about post-traumatic stress disorder by biking across the country. Her trip originated in May 2017 but was cut short after an accident. Lee is back on the road and hopes to finish in August.
