BGSU lauded again in U.S. News 'America’s Best Colleges'
BOWLING GREEN, O.—For the seventh straight year, Bowling Green State University has been recognized for its focus on the undergraduate experience in U.S. News and World Report’s “America’s Best Colleges.”
The University remained in the Top Tier of public universities in the country and was recognized for excellence in first-year-experience programs in the magazine’s 2013 edition.
BGSU was first included for first-year experience programs in the 2006 edition of the report, which points out that “some colleges and universities are much more determined than others to provide freshmen and all undergrads with the best possible experience.”
The ranking is part of the “A Focus on Student Success” category, which lists “schools with outstanding examples” of these programs. Says the report, “Many schools … now build into the curriculum first-year seminars or other programs that bring small groups of students together with faculty or staff on a regular basis.”
Others recognized for first-year-experience programs include Ohio State University, Notre Dame University and Stanford University.
