‘Bad Kitty’ author Nick Bruel visits BGSU Literacy in the Park
BOWLING GREEN, O.—Children’s author and illustrator Nick Bruel, best known for his books featuring “Bad Kitty” is the featured speaker at the Joseph and Judith Conda Family Literacy in the Park event on Saturday, March 24, on Bowling Green State University’s campus.
Readers of all ages and their families are invited to the free event from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the Lenhart Grand Ballroom of the Bowen-Thompson Student Union. In addition to presentations and book signings by Bruel, there will be hands-on literacy activities, story times, special prizes and complimentary refreshments and snacks. In addition, each child will receive a free literacy bag containing one of the author’s books, as long as supplies last. A variety of Bruel’s books will also be available for purchase.
Among his books are New York Times bestseller “Boing,” “Bad Kitty,” “Poor Puppy,” “Bad Kitty Gets a Bath,” “Happy Birthday, Bad Kitty” and “Bad Kitty vs. Uncle Murray.” Bruel has been writing and drawing since he was a young boy. He previously worked as a bookseller, but used his cartooning skills and sense of humor to become an author and illustrator of children’s books. He lives with his wife, Carina, daughter, Isabel, and cat Esmerelda in Tarrytown, N.Y. During his down time, he collects PEZ dispensers and grows tomatoes in the backyard.
