BOWLING GREEN, O.—More than 500 Bowling Green State University faculty, staff and students spent their Martin Luther King Jr. holiday getting their hands dirty as part of the fourth annual MLK Day of Service Challenge.

Teams took down holiday decorations in downtown Bowling Green, spruced up the Wood County Humane Society and the American Red Cross of Wood County, built and repaired picnic tables at Pearson Metropark in Oregon and cleaned exhibit spaces at the Wood County Historical Center, among other projects.

In all, more than 40 community partners got a helping hand.
