BGSU exceeds expectations on graduation rate

BOWLING GREEN, O.—Bowling Green State University is among a group of national universities that outperform expectations for student graduation rates. According to U.S. News and World Report, BGSU’s actual vs. expected graduation rate puts it in the top five of similar public universities nationwide, including Penn State, Michigan State and Illinois State universities.

BGSU’s graduation rate has also consistently been higher than predicted by the U.S. News and World Report’s America’s Best Colleges publication.

“While BGSU serves a wide array of students, our report card is in the success of our students’ progress toward graduation,” said Gary Swegan, admissions director. “Where we demonstrate our value is in the difference between the expected and our actual graduation rates.”

Although the large majority of BGSU students complete their degrees in much less time than six years, the University provides data in six-year increments as part of a national standard that allows families to compare institutions of different types to one another, Swegan explained.

BGSU has been listed in America’s Best Colleges as among the best in such categories as high-quality undergraduate education, first-year experience programs and residential learning communities.
