Collections

  • Books located in the following areas of the CRC may be checked out from and returned to the main first floor circulation desk: Juvenile Literature, Curriculum (textbooks & activity books), biographies, new books, The Hungling Disney Collection, and Children’s magazines.
  • Teaching aids, Reserve items, puppets, pop-up books, and picture files are available for check out and return during the hours that the CRC is open, which differ from the main building hours. These materials may be returned at the circulation desk on the first floor if the CRC Information and Lending Desk is not open. Please do not put these items in the book drops outside the building.
  • Students may not put holds on Reserve material if they are already checked out by someone else.
  • CRC Reserve material is checked out from and should be returned to the CRC Information and Lending Desk. CRC Reserve materials may not be renewed. Once a student returns a CRC Reserve item, there is a 24 hour waiting period before that student can borrow the same Reserve item again. This allows for other patrons to have a chance to use the material. The only exception is if there are two copies of a CRC Reserve item.

Missing and Damaged CRC Teaching Aid Items

It is the patron’s responsibility to check for damaged or missing items before borrowing teaching aids. When teaching aids are returned, CRC Staff carefully count and examine every item to ensure they are in good condition and all pieces are accounted for before checking the item in and placing it on the shelf. CRC staff document missing items and damage.

If CRC staff discover that a returned teaching aid is missing pieces, the teaching aid will not be checked in and overdue fees may accrue. CRC Library Associate Jess Mullins notifies patrons immediately via email and provides a missing item(s) return deadline. The teaching aid will be checked in on the day the patron returns the missing item(s) or on the day the patron notifies our Library Associate, Jess Mullins, via email that they are unable to locate the missing teaching aid item(s).

If patrons are unable to locate the missing teaching aid item(s) by the deadline provided, they are responsible for a replacement fee. If the missing item(s) are essential to the teaching aid and cannot be replaced, the patron may be responsible for replacement of the entire teaching aid.

If teaching aids are damaged upon check out, please do not attempt to repair. Damaged teaching aids are checked in, assessed, and repaired by CRC staff. Patrons are notified immediately via email if they are responsible for any damage fees.

All missing item and damage fees are sent to Access Services and once they are processed, they are sent to the Bursar. If you have any questions regarding missing or damaged item(s) please contact Jess Mullins directly via email.
