Ohio Governor Appoints Finance Alumnus to BGSU Board of Trustees
Ohio Governor John Kasich has appointed David O’Brien of Westlake, Ohio, to the Bowling Green State University Board of Trustees for a term running until May 17, 2024.
O’Brien earned a Bachelor of Science in business administration with a double major in finance and risk management/insurance from BGSU. He is currently chairman of the board and owner of Risk International Holdings in Fairlawn, Ohio. He acquired Risk International in 2012 after a long corporate career of serving the risk management and insurance brokerage needs of Fortune 1000 companies.
He has held numerous not-for-profit board positions including Junior Achievement, Louisville Orchestra, Economics America, Center for Families and Children, the American Red Cross, and the Cleveland Zoological Society. Currently, O’Brien and his wife Lisa serve as capital campaign co-chairs for the Women’s Recovery Center of Greater Cleveland. His for-profit board participation includes currently serving as chairman of the board for Risk International Holdings. Previously he served on the board of Oswald Companies and Oswald, Trippe and Company.
“I’d like to thank Governor Kasich for the opportunity to serve my alma mater. I valued my time at BGSU and hope to help future generations prosper there as well,” O’Brien said.
“Since I grew up in Bowling Green and my dad was a professor of mathematics there, I have a special interest in preserving the legacy of the University,” he added.
