United Way Campaign
Dear Faculty and Staff,
Fall kicks off the annual United Way and Northwest Ohio Community Shares Campaign at Bowling Green State University.
Both organizations have been hard at work engaging our community and developing solutions for the issues facing our neighbors. With your help and support, we can create further positive change in our community. Your gift aids local organizations in meeting needs and improving Wood County for all residents.
The numbers in our community tell a story. In 2012, because of United Way:
- 95.7% of 539 elementary children achieved progress in one or more developmental milestones and are better prepared academically, emotionally, socially or physically.
- 439 Wood County pre-school students received education on sexual abuse prevention.
- 2-1-1 received 83,497 requests for assistance. Food was the number one need in Wood County.
- 7,433 Wood County residents received assistance for clothing, food, or shelter.
How does this happen? Through the generous contributions of the people in Wood County. You can help make a difference by giving to the United Way Campaign on campus.
At Bowling Green State University, we are proud to support United Way and Northwest Ohio Community Shares. This is your opportunity to be vested in the communities where we live and work.
I am a longtime advocate for supporting United Way and our community. Your participation in supporting our community is very important. Please consider making a donation at a level you are comfortable with, whether it is a single gift or a donation made through monthly payroll deductions.
Please join me in helping local families become and stay financially stable, improve education, early learning, access to healthy environments, and our entire community by making a donation this year to the BGSU United Way/Northwest Ohio Community Shares campaign.
