Buckeye Boys State back at BGSU
BOWLING GREEN, O.—Over 1,200 of the most outstanding young scholars in Ohio are at Bowling Green State University this week for Buckeye Boys State. The American Legion hosts the event. Students taking part learn about city, county and state government by creating a mock government.
This year’s program started June 14 and runs through June 21.
Among officials scheduled to visit are Ohio Supreme Court Justice Sharon Kennedy. Scores of other city, county and state officials as well as American Legion staff and volunteers also will take part.
Participants at Buckeye Boys State are also eligible for the BGSU Buckeye Boys State Achievement Scholarship.
The automatic $1,000 scholarship for Boys State participants is renewable yearly and may be combined with other University scholarships. In order to receive it, the participant will need to apply for admission to BGSU by Nov. 1.
Buckeye Boys State was founded in 1936 and has been held at BGSU since 1978.
