Language Services Group provides Russian language exam, offers workshops
BOWLING GREEN, O.—BGSU’s Language Services Group (LSG) has concluded an agreement with Moscow State University making the LSG the only licensed U.S. provider of the Russian Federation’s state language examination. The examination is required for a Russian citizenship application, university entrance, employment and other purposes.
Russian Federation consulates in the U.S. refer citizenship applications to BGSU. The LSG cooperates with the testing center at Moscow State’s Institute of Russian Language and Culture on administering the test and evaluating results. BGSU faculty members Irina Stakhanova and Timothy Pogačar qualified to administer the test by completing training at St. Petersburg State University’s Institute of Russian Language and Culture.
BGSU’s Language Services Group provides translation and interpreting services in the region and has international clients. The LSG also offers language workshops and consultations. Its economic development, outreach and enrichment activities have been part of the College of Arts and Sciences since 2013.
From Oct. 13-Nov. 14, the LSG will offer language workshops in French and Russian, on Mondays; Spanish, on Tuesdays; and German and Italian, on Thursdays. The sessions will be held from 6:30-8 p.m. on campus.
The workshops provide an introduction to languages and cultures for high school students or others interested in travel or work overseas or hosting people from other countries.
