Community artists invited to show work at BGSU

The BGSU art galleries will host the seventh annual Northwest Ohio (NOWOH) Community Art Exhibition June 21-July 11 in the Fine Arts Center. 

The show, which aims to support regional artists of all levels of experience, will open with a reception and awards presentation, from 7-9 p.m. on June 20. Professional arts jurors will award more than $1,000 in cash prizes and gift certificates in several categories, including a Young Artist Award (16-18 years of age) and Best of Show Award. Visitors can vote for the Popular Choice Award.

The Toledo Federation of Arts Societies will host a free artist workshop from 3-4 p.m. July 14 on “Entering Shows Using Café or Other Online Services.”

Artists 16 years of age and older from the following counties are eligible: Defiance, Erie, Fulton, Hancock, Henry, Lucas, Ottawa, Paulding, Sandusky, Seneca, Williams, and Wood.  Entry fees are $15 for artists 16-18 years of age, and $30 for artists 19 years and older. Each entrant is limited to three submissions. All work submitted will be displayed.

Artists of all skill levels are encouraged to enter. Interested artists can register through June 12. Exhibition hours are 1-4 p.m. Thursday-Sunday; 6-8 p.m. Thursdays; 6-8 p.m. Saturday, June 21; closed July 4.
