BGSU hosts statewide Russian Olympiad

It’s Russian, and it’s competitive, but the Olympiad taking place at BGSU this weekend is not for athletes but for undergraduates studying Russian. Students from across Ohio will come to Bowling Green for the fourth annual Russian Olympiad, which BGSU is hosting for the second year in a row.

The events include a presentation on a randomly drawn topic, an oral poem and an oral interview. Irina Stakhanova, German, Russian and East Asian languages, is a co-organizer of the event.

The event provides students a chance to network with peers, participants external feedback on their abilities, visibility for BGSU’s Russian program (and, by extension, language programs), evidence for use in assessment, a study abroad recruiting opportunity, and faculty members time to compare notes on their programs.
